Fréjus and Port-Fréjus Beaches

The town of Fréjus counts several beaches and a marina called ‘Port-Fréjus’, surrounded by a great number of shops and restaurants, ideal to stroll around during the summer nighttime markets. The historical town centre of Fréjus dominates the plains and offers an art and history trail to explore, by taking the cobblestoned alleyways, as well as an archeological museum. The Nature Base François Léotard near the marina boasts 135 ha of green parks. The site hosts the Roc d’Azur event, a famous mountainbike competition, and you’ll find a great number of leisure activities here: beach volleyball, boules games, football, roller blading, skating and BMX biking, scale modelling, etc.

Sainte Maxime Beaches

Sainte-Maxime is located at about 10 km from the campsite. Stroll around in the peaceful town centre and taste the local products during a market visit on Thursday morning. Continue your outing and enjoy the 11 km of beaches to swim in the clear sea water of the Pavillon Bleu labeled beaches. You can choose between a great number of watersports, like jet skiing, parasailing, scubadiving in the Ligurian Sea Sanctuary. Inland you’ll be exploring the Maures massif by horse, by mountainbike or on foot.

Saint Tropez Outings

Make use of your stay to stroll around the marina of Saint-Tropez, located at just 15 minutes driving from the campsite. Saint-Tropez is one of the most visited marinas of the Var. Subject to the time of year; you’ll appreciate the yachts or splendid sailing boats and enjoy one of the sunny terraces of the bars and restaurants edging the marina. The town centre houses the museum of naval history, a great culture site. You’ll also find a great number of shops. Discover the famous Gendarmerie of Saint-Tropez (now a museum of Gendarmerie and film). Not far from there, the Place des Lices boasts a market on Tuesday and Saturday mornings. The fish market takes place every morning, at the entrance of the old harbour, near the shops. You can take a small ferry to admire the Canoubiers bay and its famous villas (like La Madrague).

La Croix Valmer Outings

La Croix Valmer nestles between the campsite and Cavalaire. This charming town is surrounded by exceptional wine estates. The Sunday morning market under the palm trees is worth a visit. Hiking fanatics will be happy to find numerous tracks (please visit the website of the Tourist Information Office for a map) to explore the landscape and some surprising sights.

Ramatuelle Visits

Ramatuelle, near Saint-Tropez, is an authentic medieval town, set at the heart of nature on the Paillas hill. It is a lovely and peaceful village with ochre coloured fronts and pastel painted shutters. On Thursday and Sunday mornings, you’ll find a Provençal market on the Place de l’Ormeau. Laze on the famous beaches like the Pampelonne beach and more unspoiled Escalet beach, admire the Cap Taillat and swim in the clear sea water while enjoying the exceptional surrounding landscape.

Cavalaire Beaches

Cavalaire sets in the most southern bay of the Var coast and is known for its 3 km long beach stretching at the foot of the Pradels massif. Hikers can choose to ramble on the Cap de Lardier or the Cap de Cavalaire. The town centre beach counts numerous kids’ clubs in the summer, as well as restaurants and private beaches. Pardigon beach is more unspoiled and well appreciated as it is construction-free and set in a preserved environment.

Golden Islands Boat trip

Several ferry companies will take you to visit the Golden Islands: the île Le Levant, île Port Cros and île de Porquerolles. On the île Port Cros you’ll be visiting the national park. This island boasts some extraordinary nature for both the flora and fauna. The île Le Levant is the most eastern island. With time, it has managed to preserve its 20h reserve of strawberry trees. The île de Porquerolles is the best known and biggest of the three islands. It has more inhabitants, boasts an impressive biodiversity, vast white sand beaches and splendid sea bottoms.
